Word Count Timeline Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 27, 2026

Word Count Timeline ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your data when you use the Word Count Timeline Google Docs add-on.

1. Data Collection

We may collect, or process on behalf of our users, the following categories of data when you use our add-on:

We do not collect any personal information. The add-on only accesses the word count and timestamp of your active Google Doc to generate a timeline. This data is extracted locally within your browser session.

2. Data Sharing and Transfer

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not transfer or disclose your information to third parties for purposes other than the ones provided. Your data is processed locally in your browser and within Google's infrastructure. We do not share Google user data for advertising, data broking, credit-worthiness, or any other prohibited purposes.

3. Data Storage, Retention, and Deletion

All word count data, goals, and timeline history are stored exclusively within the Document Properties of the specific Google Doc where the add-on is used. We do not maintain any external databases or servers to store your document content or metrics.

Data Retention: We store your information for a period of time that is consistent with our business purposes, which in this case is as long as the specific Google Doc exists.

Data Deletion: You may request for your data to be deleted by deleting the Google Doc itself, or by uninstalling the add-on and using a script to clear the Document Properties.

4. Data Protection Mechanisms

Security procedures are in place to protect the confidentiality of your data. Because all data is stored within your Google account (via Document Properties) and processed within Google's ecosystem, we rely on Google's robust, built-in security and encryption mechanisms to protect your information.

5. Google API Services User Data Policy

The add-on's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
